About Cliff

Cliff is located about 18 miles northeast of Castroville on FM Road 471 near the Bexar and Medina county lines. Cliff settler families include the names Bourquin, Wurzbach, Stein, Winkler, Baby, Belzung, Stolte, Schuchart and Steubing.

The area was named after the rocky cliffs along the banks of the San Geronimo Creek. The first school in the area, known as Cliff School, was situated on the north bank of San Geronimo Creek. Cliff also had a general store and post office,which was  located near the Christopher Schuchart home.
