Background

Henri Castro deeded the property on August 15, 1847, to Joseph Zimmerman. Later that same year, Theresa Iltis purchased the property and it remained in the family until April 1991 when Stanley and Beverly Keller purchased the home.

The Kellers oversaw a two-year project to restore the interior of the home and furnished it with antiques, including a 1911 fully functioning kitchen stove.

The original home was two rooms with 18-inch-thick limestone walls covered on both sides with stucco. Cypress frames all doors and windows, all of which are different sizes. The house features three chimneys but no fireplaces

The early 1900s additions consist of the back three rooms, including a kitchen. The middle room features a set of stairs that lead to a sleeping attic.

Later additions include a sleeping porch on the side of the home, a bathroom at the end of the porch and a front porch.

A 30-foot-deep rock-lined well, dug by hand, can be found in the backyard. The water tower adjacent to the well was once a bathhouse and featured a claw-foot tub.
